FORWARD: CHARTING A BOLD PATH TO IMPROVE BLACK HEALTH AND WELL-BEING
Join us for a week of community and knowledge mobilization
SEPTEMBER 12-16, 2022
What is Amandla Olwazi Project ?
“TAIBU continues to make way in addressing anti-Black racism and its impact on the health and wellbeing of the Black communities, Francophone and racialized populations. The Board of Directors has heard from the community, staff and volunteers what the role of TAIBU should be moving forward. We are therefore charting a bold path to continue to improve the health and wellbeing of the communities that we serve and bring about a meaningful, measurable and accountable impact”

Guided by Afrocentric traditional values and principles, Amandla Olwazi – The power of knowledge is a unique and innovative knowledge mobilization project.
Building on existing research around anti-Black racism and its impact in Canada, the project raises awareness of the impact of anti-Black racism on the mental health and wellness of Black communities.
The project brings together a wide range of individuals and organizations from broader
Black communities, Academic institutions, Faith-based organizations, Community and Social Services agencies, and other Black-led agencies as collaborators and implementors.
Now more than ever, we are becoming progressively aware of how race and racism impact the way people of African, Afro-Caribbean and Black descent are viewed, valued and treated.
Throughout the pandemic and across systems, anti-Black racism, both intentional and unintentional, continues to directly shape the health and well-being of many within the uniquely diverse Black community.
From vaccinations, immigration to mental health, food security and teen pregnancy, identifying the disproportionate lack of access to services, programs and to high quality care is alarming, but not shocking.
